‘Mechanical issue’ leaves Amtrak train stalled in Kalamazoo for 4 hours

KALAMAZOO, MI — Amtrak passengers were stranded in Kalamazoo for four hours on Sunday, Feb. 22.

Amtrak’s Blue Water line traveling from Chicago to Port Huron experienced a “mechanical issue” at 7:10 p.m., said Marc Magliari, Amtrak senior public relations manager.

Staci Leyrer Percy, one of 250 passengers on the train, said the train traveled half a mile after leaving Kalamazoo’s Amtrak station, 459 N. Burdick St., before stalling. Power to the cabins remained on, Percy said…
