Planned substation work could cause temporary outage in parts of Galesburg in March

GALESBURG, Mich. — Roughly 1,200 Consumers Energy customers in Galesburg may temporarily lose power during an overnight improvement project in early March.

Consumers Energy crews are slated to make upgrades to local substation equipment, which is expected to improve electric service for customers in the community, according to Consumers Energy.

Overnight work is expected to temporarily impact customers from as far north as North 37th Street, across I-94 and south to South 38th Street, from 11 p.m. March 7 until as late as 7 a.m. March 8, officials said.

“Consumers Energy is committed to investing in the electric system in Galesburg, and these upgrades will help strengthen reliability for our customers,” Steve Herrygers, senior executive director of high voltage distribution, said. “This work ensures families and businesses in the community have the dependable energy they need today and well into the future.”…
