March Happenings in West Michigan: Lowell Arts, Misery & Holland Girls Weekend

West Michigan is packed with arts, entertainment, and girls’-weekend fun this March! At Lowell Arts in downtown Lowell, artists are invited to dream big with MuralCity, a public art initiative in partnership with the City of Lowell, while visitors can explore the stunning works featured in the West Michigan Art Competition on display through March 28. In Kalamazoo, Farmers Alley Theatre presents Misery, the gripping stage adaptation of the classic thriller by Stephen King, running March 5–15 with tickets starting around $22. And in Holland, Downtown Holland Girls Weekend (March 6–8) promises fashion shows, an 80s party, creative workshops, shopping perks, and plenty of sassy fun for a memorable getaway with friends.

Lowell Arts is soon envisioning some giant works of art and they are calling for all professional and emerging artists and all art lovers too! If you have ever dreamed of having your art transformed into a giant mural on the side of a building – here is your chance! Muralocity is a Public Art Initiative, organized by Lowell Arts in partnership with the CIty Lowell, which will activate historic downtown Lowell. The selection committee will select five finalists to participate, with a stipend included, and more details are available on the Lowell Arts website. But until that happens, be sure to visit the Lowell Arts downtown gallery – a great date night by the way- to view the outstanding winners of the West Michigan Art Competition. They will be on display through the end of March, and there are some really impressive and talented artists that are featured in this beautiful gallery space…
