Michigan dairy CAFO pays $33k to settle river pollution case

BATTLE CREEK, MI — A Calhoun County dairy farm accused of polluting the Kalamazoo River watershed will pay $32,907 and install groundwater monitoring wells under a court-approved settlement.

Under terms of a Feb. 13 consent judgement, Holloo Farms LLC near Marshall will pay the civil fine and begin groundwater monitoring to resolve a four-year legal battle with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE).
