Happy’s Pizza, the Detroit-born chain known for smoked ribs and late-night slices, is sliding back into Kalamazoo with a co-branded storefront on South Westnedge Avenue. The move fills a high-traffic gap on a retail strip that has seen its share of turnover in recent years and should give southside diners another late-night option. The revamped spot will pair Happy’s pizza and barbecue with sliders and hand-spun shakes from Savvy Sliders.
Company officials confirmed the new restaurant will open at 3205 S. Westnedge Ave. and will be co-located with Savvy Sliders in the former J. Gumbo’s building, as reported by MLive. According to the outlet, the co-branded format is designed so franchisees can cover more dayparts out of a single kitchen.
