Kalamazoo County has recorded its lowest infant mortality rate for Black babies since at least 1980, with 7 deaths per 1,000 births, according to Cradle Kalamazoo.
It’s also the lowest mortality rate in the state for Black babies in their first year of life, among 16 counties that are listed in statewide data with specifics about Black infant mortality.
