KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A Kalamazoo woman is urging Kalamazoo Public Schools (KPS) to provide bus transportation for students from Interfaith Homes to Hillside Middle School, citing safety concerns for Northside neighborhood children who currently walk to class.
Morgan Stevenson, a concerned resident, plans to address the KPS Board during its meeting Thursday night. She is advocating for the district to implement a bus route for students who face a nearly mile-and-a-half journey to school, often without sidewalks and through areas prone to flooding, she said.
“Everyone deserves to be safe on their way to school,” Stevenson said.

Stevenson also pointed out that during winter months, snow-covered sidewalks often force children to walk in the street…
