$1.9M in MDOT funds going toward West Michigan projects

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Three West Michigan projects are slated to get nearly $1.9 million of a $6 million pot from the Michigan Department of Transportation to use for road safety improvements.

A grant of $945,000 is set for sidewalk construction at Reeths-Puffer Schools in Muskegon Township, $351,828 will go toward separated pathway construction on the Blue Star Trail in Van Buren County and $620,034 is allotted to build a separated pathway, boardwalk and pedestrian bridge in Berrien County, according to MDOT.

Projects in Missaukee, Isabella and Wayne counties are also receiving funds from MDOT, including a $708,000 grant to build a segment of the Joe Louis Greenway in Detroit. That work will connect the Greenway to a pedestrian bridge that’s part of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project…
