Three Rivers leaders discuss tornado response at commission meeting

THREE RIVERS, Mich. (WOOD) — For the first time since deadly tornadoes tore through parts of Southwest Michigan, leaders in Three Rivers gathered with the community for a commission meeting.

At the top of Tuesday night’s agenda was an emergency management presentation — a somewhat tense one at times, as members on the board and residents said sirens weren’t sounded in a timely manner.

In the packed city hall, leaders like the fire chief, the city manager and volunteers with the American Red Cross and Samaritan’s Purse gave presentations on the roles each of their departments played before, during and in the aftermath of that March 6 storm.
