MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WLUC) – Despite the historic blizzard that hit the U.P. in March, Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital remained operational while facing operational and financial strain.
A press release from SMH says the hospital activated its Incident Command structure, which ensured a coordinated response across all departments. It says that while some non-essential services were closed, the emergency and inpatient services were maintained without interruption. Some providers and staff remained on-site for extended periods, while others slept at the hospital or in nearby accommodations.
