Kalamazoo Township selects new treasurer

KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Kalamazoo Township has picked a new treasurer after a contentious parting with the last person to hold the job.

On Monday morning, the Board of Trustees appointed Clara Robinson to fill the role, the township said in a release. Her term will last through November, at which point the people of Kalamazoo Township will elect a treasurer. Robinson appointed Kelly Sims to serve as deputy treasurer.

“I’m honored. I’m blessed. Let me put it that way. That’s probably the easiest way for me to describe it. I absolutely do not take it lightly,” Robinson told News 8.

Embattled Kalamazoo Township treasurer resigns

Robinson was previously a deputy treasurer in Comstock Township for 12 years. In Kalamazoo Township, she has been an executive coordinator and trustee — a role from which she has resigned to serve as treasurer.

“Clara Robinson’s extensive experience allows her to step into this role with immediate impact,” Supervisor David Combs said in a statement. “This position demands precision, accountability, and technical expertise from day one, and she possesses all of those qualities.”…
