ALMENA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Deputies arrested a 30-year-old after reports that he assaulted a man and forced his ex-girlfriend to hide him from the police.

Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office (VBCSO) deputies said they responded to a house, owned by a 28-year-old woman, near M-43 and 25th Street after a 31-year-old Paw Paw man reported being hit with a “blunt object” and sprayed with bear repellent by a 30-year-old Paw Paw man on Thursday after 9:15 p.m.
Emergency responders took the 31-year-old to the hospital to be decontaminated and treated for minor injuries.
By the time deputies arrived, the 30-year-old Paw Paw man had left the scene. Deputies searched for their suspect and the homeowner throughout the night but did not find them…
