Update: Prepare for strong thunderstorms in 6 Michigan counties Tuesday morning – wind gusts reaching 50 mph

The National Weather Service issued an updated weather alert at 5:39 a.m. EDT on Tuesday for strong thunderstorms until 6:15 a.m. EDT for Gratiot, Ionia, Clinton, Barry, Van Buren and Kalamazoo counties.

Residents may experience wind gusts of up to 50 mph.

“At 5:38 a.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Breckenridge to 8 miles northeast of Nashville to 5 miles southeast of Lawton. Movement was southeast at 45 mph,” adds the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”…
