Update: Brace for strong thunderstorms in Southern Michigan until 3 a.m. EDT Saturday – wind gusts reaching 40 mph

An updated weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 1:58 a.m. EDT for strong thunderstorms until 3:30 a.m. EDT for Barry, Eaton, Ingham, Calhoun and Jackson counties.

Residents may experience wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

“At 1:58 a.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Lake Odessa to 8 miles west of Bellevue to 8 miles east of Vicksburg. Movement was east at 40 mph,” adds the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”…
