At 1:29 p.m. EDT on Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a flood warning in effect until further notice for Kalamazoo County.
The weather service informs, “Minor flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record for Portage River near Vicksburg.”
“At 5.5 feet, Minor basement flooding begins at the first house near the gage,” explains the weather service. “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.”
