‘Cruel and inhumane’: One-on-one with Kalamazoo County Jail inmate on water issues

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A Kalamazoo County inmate is calling the jail’s current conditions “cruel and inhumane.”

Since Friday, numerous relatives of inmates have messaged News Channel 3, saying their loved ones are left thirsty, and they don’t believe the county is telling the truth about how much drinking water they’re providing.

After the Kalamazoo County Health Department recommended that no one drinks the jail water, staff began providing water bottles to inmates.
