Lawsuit claims Kalamazoo County deputy withheld evidence in shooting case

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A federal lawsuit claims a Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office deputy withheld audio of a shooting for around two years while a Kalamazoo man sat in jail, charged with murder.

When the audio finally came to light, the suit says, the murder charge was dropped.

“The withheld evidence contradicted the prosecution’s theory and was only disclosedimmediately before Plaintiff’s favorable case resolution in November 2025,” the complaint claims…
