Michigan Supports Downtown Redevelopment Projects Adding Housing and Commercial Space

LANSING, Mich. (May 5 2026) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced three redevelopment projects in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and the city of Marshall that will transform underutilized properties into new housing and commercial space, supported through the state’s Revitalization and Placemaking (RAP) program.

The projects, located in Hancock, Manistique and Marshall, represent a combined capital investment of more than $7.6 million and will deliver new residential units, commercial space and community-focused amenities in key downtown districts.
