“She didn’t hesitate”: Neighbors witness rescue of baby from burning apartment

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A four-month-old baby is unharmed after she was tossed from the second story of a burning building in Kalamazoo, and caught by a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) officer.

Now neighbors are praising his actions, after they saw the fire consume the second-story steps around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.

“I was coming out to go to work,” a downstairs neighbor said, “And I looked up and seen the whole side of the house engulfed in flames.”
