Kalamazoo County sets September 1st deadline for organizations to spend COVID-19 relief money

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – All the organizations that have received federal COVID-19 recovery grants from Kalamazoo County will be given a given a deadline to use it or lose it.

Kalamazoo County received over $51 million five years ago this month from Congress to reimburse local governments for losses due to the pandemic, and to set up programs to help their communities recover.

Any money not spent by December 31st has to be shipped back to Washington, and local officials want to make sure that doesn’t happen, by establishing a September 1st local deadline…
