Early childhood center damaged in Barry County amid storms

WOODLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Debris covers the schoolyard of Lakewood Early Childhood Center in Woodland, which was damaged after storms blew through Monday afternoon.

It happened just before 3 p.m., according to a letter from the Superintendent of Lakewood Public Schools, Jodi Duits. She said the center was already sheltering in place because emergency sirens had sounded a half hour earlier in Woodland during a severe thunderstorm warning. The Barry County Sheriff told News 8 students and staff are all OK.

Duits said it was the administration office, at the back of the center, where a part of the roof blew off the building. In a Facebook post, the center asked families to pick up their students from the front of the building…
