A Kansas City, Missouri, man has been sentenced in federal court after being convicted of methamphetamine distribution, conspiracy to distribute the drug, and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking operation.
Derone D. Gipson, 44, of Kansas City, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Beth Phillips to 15 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
Court records show Gipson was already serving federal supervised release stemming from an earlier federal drug conviction when he committed the latest offenses. As a result, Judge Phillips also imposed an additional two-year prison sentence for violating the terms of his supervised release.
