COLUMBIA — As summer begins, many mid-Missouri residents will be traveling long distances on Interstate 70 to get to major cities from Columbia like St. Louis and Kansas City.
The Improve I-70 Program is a $2.8 billion project led by the Missouri Department of Transportation with the purpose of modernizing one of the oldest interstates in the country. The quality for travelers has significantly gone downhill since the pavement was first laid in the early 1950s.
MoDOT will add a third lane in each direction, rebuild 14 bridge structures and overpasses, and reduce traffic congestion during the busiest travel season of the year…
