KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – Six witnesses testified Monday in a preliminary hearing to help determine if there is probable cause that a crime happened and that Dennis Mitchell III may have committed it.
Mitchell is charged with capital murder in the death of Kansas City Kansas police officer Hunter Simoncic. The hearing took place in Wyandotte County court.
Mitchell is charged in the Aug. 26, 2025, death of Simoncic at State Avenue and College Boulevard.
