Charges filed against woman who allegedly lied to collect $40K in SNAP benefits

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A Kansas City-area woman faces federal fraud charges for allegedly stealing nearly $40,000 in food assistance benefits over 5 years.

Viridiana Luna-Mejia, 34, was indicted by a federal grand jury on theft of government money and four counts of wire fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri.
