What looked like a fast, on-demand “delivery service” across the Kansas City metro was, according to federal prosecutors, a full-fledged drug pipeline moving methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine. On Tuesday, the man at the center of it, 34-year-old Mexican national Jose Antonio Heredia-Chang, was hit with a 20-year federal prison sentence.
Heredia-Chang had already admitted his role, pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking offense, according to court records.
Federal Charges And The 20-Year Hit
In a press release, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas said Heredia-Chang pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, and to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.
A federal judge sentenced him to 20 years in prison, a term that effectively shuts down what prosecutors say was a delivery service that dispatched drivers and operated across multiple cities.
