KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A Kansas City bus driver who spent the World Cup behind the wheel for the England national soccer team turned his experience into a poem — and it reached millions of people around the world after star midfielder Jude Bellingham shared it on social media.
Michael Chandler, a driver for Arrow Stage Lines, served as the team driver for England throughout their World Cup stay in Kansas City. Over the course of that time, Chandler said he formed personal bonds with the players.
‘Hearts of gold’
“The Three Lions Team, they are, every one of them, hearts of gold,” Chandler said.
He spoke highly of several players by name, including Bellingham, Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, and Kieran Trippier. He also noted the composure of Reece James during an injury recovery.
“Jude Bellingham … can’t speak enough positive about that man,” Chandler said. “Harry Kane, Burn, Saka, all those guys, they have a natural humbleness.”
