A group of Overland Park neighbors are savoring each moment spent at their neighborhood pool this summer, after a recent City Council decision signalled the clock is ticking toward its closure.
Before that happens, the neighbors near Stonegate Pool, 9701 Antioch Road, are trying to push back and convince city leaders to save what they refer to as one of the few gathering spaces left in their community.
“It’s just so sad,” said resident Lori Eby. “There are just not that many places in our community where we can come together.”
Last week, the Overland Park City Council discussed the city’s future plan for pools as part of its 10-year parks and recreation master plan, Playbook OP.
