KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Sailors took to the waters of Lake Jacomo Sunday morning for the annual Rotary Regatta, continuing a century-old tradition that supports local children with special needs.
The annual regatta raises money for the Rotary Youth Camp, a specialized camp designed to give children with disabilities a classic summer camp experience at no cost to their parents.
“No matter what their disability is, the camps are all set up so they have the same groups,” said organizer Scott Holzman. “A lot of them come back every year… when you see the camp, it just tugs at your heartstrings. And so that’s why we’re all here today. It’s just for the kids.”
