Deadline to claim Missouri gas tax refund is tomorrow

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Missouri drivers have until Wednesday to file for a refund of the state’s gas tax increase, according to the Department of Revenue.

Missouri has raised its gas tax every year since 2021, and drivers can claim back that increase. This year, the refund covers 12.5 cents per gallon on gas purchased between last July and this June.

KCTV5 spent the day at several Kansas City gas stations asking drivers a simple question: did they know the state owes them cash? Most said no.
