On August 21, 2025, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper tried to stop a red Chevrolet Cavalier on Highway 210 in Clay County, Missouri, and its driver, Trenton R. Parker of Lenexa, Kansas, kept going. Dashcam video released by Clay County prosecutors shows the Cavalier heading west on 210, passing cars on the shoulder, driving into oncoming traffic, and reaching 110 mph. On October 20, 2026, Parker pleaded guilty to the one felony charged against him, and Clay County Circuit Judge Shane Terril Alexander sentenced him to two years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. That charge was aggravated fleeing a stop or detention, the offense Missouri created in 2024 and named Valentine’s Law. Before that law, Missouri already treated a dangerous chase as a felony, but one that could end in probation. Under Valentine’s Law, a chase in which nobody is hurt still carries a guaranteed year in prison. Parker got two.
