Overland Park leaders looking for public input on reshaping busy intersection

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — City leaders say a busy intersection might be due for a facelift.

Municipal leaders in Overland Park are beginning to consider some changes to the area of College Boulevard and Metcalf Avenue. The latest census totals show roughly 197,000 people call Overland Park their home.

The area near College and Metcalf is usually busy during business hours on weekdays, but not as much on weekends.

City planners are interested to hear the public’s input on reshaping it, perhaps in the same manner other Overland Park areas have been revitalized.

“What we’ve heard is more housing, more shopping, more restaurants,” Meg Ralph, a spokesperson for the City of Overland Park, said on Tuesday.

Overland Park has given other neighborhoods recent facelifts. In the past few years, neighborhoods like downtown Overland Park at 79th and Metcalf, the Meridian development at 103rd and Antioch and the new BluHawk development in south Overland Park have all come to fruition.
