KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is dead after hitting a tree late Thursday night in Kansas City near 19th and Paseo.
Around 11 p.m., a Chevrolet Malibu was speeding northbound on Paseo, according to Kansas City police.

Just south of 19th Street, the Chevrolet took the curve in the roadway incorrectly, drove over the curb onto the sidewalk, and hit a short concrete wall. The driver of the Chevrolet continued northbound down the sidewalk and hit a large tree.
The driver of the car was not wearing a seatbelt. They were taken to a nearby hospital and were pronounced dead from their injuries, according to KCPD.
