Tiffany Castle continues to amaze those who drive by the historic home in Kansas City, Missouri

Located in the Pendleton Heights neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri is a historic home known as Tiffany Castle located at 100 Garfield Avenue. According to the Redfin real estate website, this phenomenal home last sold in September 2016. The interior photos are amazing.

The 4,200 sq. ft. castle, built in 1909, was designed by architect Clifton B. Sloan for Dr. Flavel B. Tiffany, said to be Kansas City’s first optometrist. Interestingly, he once lived on what was called Millionaire’s Row between 26th and 32nd Streets on Troost Avenue in Kansas City.

It was during Dr. Tiffany’s travels to England and Scotland that he developed an affinity for Tudor-styled castles. He eventually had one built on Garfield Avenue. The roof and floors are reinforced concrete, great for fireproofing. A quarry from 2nd and Lydia provided the limestone for the castle’s walls.

It was Dr. Tiffany who also later founded the Tiffany Springs neighborhood in Kansas City. Tiffany Castle was listed on the Kansas City Register of Historic Places as part of the Pendleton Heights Historic District in 1992.
