KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City man was convicted in a 2020 double homicide on Wednesday, officials say, but he’s still awaiting trial in a third homicide case.
A Jackson County jury convicted 36-year-old Cleon White of two counts of first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.
White was charged in April 2022 in the deadly shootings of 18-year-old Jahmiere Green and 22-year-old Brandon Rainey .
Police were called to the area of N. Montgall Avenue and Guinotte Avenue for a reported shooting and found the two men dead in a vehicle.

Surveillance footage showed another vehicle following the two victims on Guinotte before pulling up to the driver’s side, court records say. The victims’ car then rolls to a slow stop.
Detectives determined the driver went to a nearby parking lot shortly after, and his description matched a man who met one of the victims before the shooting, prosecutors said.
