Winner of $100,000 scratcher in Kansas City says she didn’t think it was true

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The recent winner of a $100,000 scratchers ticket in Kansas City, Missouri wasn’t convinced right away that she had won.

The “100,000 Diamond Dazzler” scratchers ticket was purchased at the Temp Stop at 4411 NW Barry Road in Kansas City.

“I saw 5X and thought, ‘Oh I won $25, that’ll be a tank of gas,’” she told the Missouri Lottery.

The winner said when she started to scratch the corresponding prize amount to see how much she had won, she went from thinking she had won $500 to thinking she had won $5,000, then realizing she’d uncovered a $100,000 top prize.

“I didn’t get excited at all, because I just knew it couldn’t be true,” she told the Missouri Lottery. “I expected to go to the office and them tell me that there was a mistake of some sort.”

The winner said she plans to use the money to pay bills.
