Parents concerned with out-of-control fights at Kansas City, Kansas, high school

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A group of parents with students in Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools are concerned about fights that they say have gotten out of control at Washington High School.

One parent tells FOX4 a fight at the school Tuesday sent one student to the hospital.

One mother Rocio Dominguez, says she’s had enough and it’s time someone in this school district starts taking this problem seriously.

“It’s very frustrating because she should have access to school just like others without having to feel unsafe,” Dominguez said.

Dominguez said she’s tired of hearing the same story, in her words, “excuses” from Washington High School about why there are so many fights.

“Nobody knows how we as parents feel after our kids encounter these kind of situations,” she said.

Dominguez said she expects a safe environment for her students but so far, she feels the district has dropped the ball.

She pulled one of her students out of school last year due to safety concerns, and she says she’s on the verge of pulling the other out.
