KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A driver speeding away from Kansas City police conducting a traffic violation Saturday night ended with a two-car crash that sent three people to the hospital with injuries ranging from serious to critical.
Around 11:47 p.m., police tried stopping the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu who was driving north on Pennsylvania Avenue near 38th Street. Police say the driver then sped away and the officer did not chase after the vehicle.

The driver allegedly continued speeding and failed to stop at a stop sign at the Valentine Road intersection and hit a Chrysler 200 with two people inside. The driver and passenger of the Chrysler were both wearing seat belts but still suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital. Officials say they are now in stable condition.
The driver of the Chevy was not wearing a seatbelt and was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
KCPD is investigating for suspected impairment of both drivers involved.
