A crash between a white Hino box truck and a white Ford Fusion on northbound Interstate 435 before Missouri 210 Highway left two people dead and two people injured.
The crash took place Sunday around 11:05 a.m., according to the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department.
Police report the Ford either slowed down or stopped for “unknown reasons” before its rear was struck by the box truck.
The driver and rear passenger of the Ford were pronounced dead at the scene, per KCPD.
Additionally, the front passenger of the Ford and the driver of the box truck were transported to an area hospital to be treated for critical and non-life-threatening injuries, respectively.
The affected lanes were closed fully/partially for about four hours.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene to assist KCPD with traffic.
