FIRST WARN FORECAST: Warmer and windy Monday with gusts up to 35 mph

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Sun was the star of the show on Sunday as highs made it to near 60 degrees. Nighttime lows will be cool in the mid to upper 30s. A Frost Advisory is in place to the east of Kansas City into central Missouri until 8 AM Monday. We see our winds pick up out of the southwest during the day Monday, gusting up to 35 mph at times. This in turn will help us warm closer to 70 degrees. We stay dry Monday, but our next chance for showers comes Monday night into early Tuesday. This is a quick-moving disturbance, and no thunderstorms are expected. Later in the week, our rain chance grows a bit with a larger storm system potentially impacting the area. This could start out with a few scattered showers and rumbles Thursday evening into Thursday night. I would say right now my confidence is a bit higher for widespread rain and thunderstorms on Friday. There is a FIRST WARN in place for Friday as of now as we think the day could be impacted by rain and storms. Hopefully, this storm moves to the east by Saturday and we can have a dry start to the weekend, but one of the long-range computer models wants to keep rain into Saturday. Something we will watch for sure. Generally, temperatures will bounce around in the 60s and 70s over the next week, with highs near 80 on Saturday.
