FIRST WARN WEATHER DAY issued Friday due to significant threat of strong storms

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Severe storm activity continues to develop as we move towards this evening. A large area of low pressure continues to stabilize the atmosphere. This will provide an opportunity for isolated, yet severe supercells this evening as early as 5 p.m. continuing into the night. Hail, damaging wind, and tornado activity are likely, especially in the enhanced risk zone areas. Afternoon temperatures will rise into the middle 70s with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Gusts could reach up to 40 mph and the wind will remain as we move into Saturday.
