Tornado Watch issued for multiple counties in the Kansas City area

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for Clinton, Clay and Platte counties until 11:30 p.m.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the Kansas City area Monday night.

The following counties are under a Tornado Watch is in effect until 4 a.m. for Johnson, Wyandotte, Douglas, Leavenworth, Miami Atchison, Brown and Linn counties on the Kansas side and Jackson, Platte, Cass, Clay, Johnson, Ray, Lafayette, Caldwell, Dekalb, Clinton, Henry, Nodaway and Buchanan on the Missouri side.

A tornado watch is when the atmosphere has all the ingredients of a tornado, but there may not be one that forms. Simply put: Watch the sky and weather alerts in case severe weather forms.

If there’s a tornado warning , that means the severe weather is here now and you need to seek shelter immediately.
