Father reflects on 9-year-old son months after deadly Shawnee DUI crash

SHAWNEE, Kan. — It’s been five months since an alleged drunk driver hit a father and son heading to a basketball game, killing the 9-year-old. That father sat down in an emotional tribute to the child he loved with his whole heart.

“Playing basketball, playing catch – those moments watching him light up and enjoy every minute we spent together, talking in the car with him, tucking him in at night, I miss all of it,” Aaron Davidson said.

Davidson is not only reliving that tragic day but most importantly he’s spotlighting the very essence of who his son was. Sharing his story so his boy’s memory never fades.

Davidson said everyday he left to go to work, he would tell his son, ‘Nolan, be good. Be nice. Work hard and be humble’ and everyday that’s exactly what Nolan did.”

“He’s everyone’s best friend. His principal called him the mayor of 3rd grade. He was my favorite person to hang out with,” Davidson said.
