FIRST WARN FORECAST: First Warn in place Monday and Tuesday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – What a beautiful day! Most of us had highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Hope you enjoyed it as rain chances increase on Monday. We have our next First Warn in place for nuisance rain and some rumbles Monday morning through Midday. Confidence continues to grow, coming in from the west after 6-8 AM. I think some of the steadier rain will be late morning through lunch. A couple of tenths of an inch maximum will be possible. By the early afternoon, most of this moves out and we will dry out. Highs look to be in the lower 80s. A First Warn and hot temperatures return on Tuesday with highs in the lower to mid-90s, but it will feel as hot as 105 degrees. This will be our hottest day by far for the next week, but take the heat seriously! Thunderstorm chances increase Tuesday evening, likely after 6 PM as a front comes in. Gusty winds and hail are the biggest concerns as of now. A slight risk (level 2/5) is in place for those mainly along and north of I-70. Temperatures fall off a bit behind the front in the mid-80s. A few more showers and rumbles are possible on both Wednesday and Thursday, but neither day is a washout. Thursday is the Fourth of July, and we are expecting a mainly dry day. Again, a few pop-up showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible, but for now, fireworks look to be uninterrupted. Maybe late Thursday evening closer to midnight our chance will increase a bit. The highs are mighty pleasant over the next week in the 80s for the most part!
