KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man is dead and two others have serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Kansas City, Kansas Thursday night.
The crash was reported just before 10:20 p.m. on westbound Interstate 70 near 18th Street Expressway, according to the Kansas Turnpike Authority .

KTA reports the driver of a 2007 Chrysler and the driver of a 2014 Jeep Cherokee were both traveling west on I-70 when for an unknown reason, the driver of the Jeep was on the shoulder.
The Chrysler then collided with the rear of the Jeep, causing it to go into a ditch and roll. The Chrysler then also went into a ditch.
The driver of the Chrysler was taken to the University of Kansas Health System and reported to have serious injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to KTA.
The driver of the Jeep was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

A passenger in the Jeep, identified as 78-year-old Darrell Richardson, of KCK, died from his injuries. KTA did not say if Richardson or the driver of the Jeep were wearing seat belts.
