Multiple KC metro organizations helping with Hurricane Helene relief

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Multiple organizations around the Kansas City metro area have deployed crews to assist with disaster relief from Hurricane Helene.

Heart to Heart International deployed an assessment team to Florida to evaluate the urgent needs of impacted communities.

A spokesperson for HHI said after consulting with local partners and government agencies, HHI has decided to send an additional team to North Carolina tomorrow to assess the flooding situation in the western part of the state.

The non-profit is preparing thousands of hygiene kits for distribution to partners and healthcare facilities in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.

HHI’s Mobile Medical Unit and medical team will be stationed in the area that requires the most immediate assistance, as determined in coordination with state emergency operations centers.

HHI aims to provide essential medical care and supplies to those affected.

Kansas deployed a Type 1 swift water search and rescue team, Kansas Task Force 1, through the Office of the State Fire Marshal to assist the state of Florida and local jurisdictions responding to Hurricane Helene.
