TV reporter struck by bullet fragment at Kunce shooting range campaign event

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A TV reporter was hit in the arm by a bullet fragment at a shooting range Tuesday during a campaign event for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Lucas Kunce.

The accident occurred at a private residence near Kansas City while Kunce had been firing rounds with an AR-15. One of the bullets ricocheted off a target and hit Ryan Gamboa, a reporter from KSHB-TV, a Kansas City station.

Gamboa had minor injuries, and Kunce provided treatment by wrapping a bandage around his arm.

Later, Kunce said in a post on X, “Always have your first aid kit handy. Shrapnel can always fly when you hit a target like today, and you’ve got to be ready to go. We had four first aid kits, so we were able to take care of the situation, and I’m glad Ryan is okay and was able to continue reporting.”
