Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes went viral for the wrong reasons during the Texas Tech Red Raiders’ showdown with the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday.
The veteran quarterback received negative reactions from fans after Texas Tech debuted the new “Mahomes Strategy” uniforms in Week 11. The uniform is the team’s tribute to the NFL star, who played for the Red Raiders from 2014 to 2016.
With Mahomes’ collaboration with Adidas, the Red Raiders’ jersey featured the three-time Super Bowl MVP’s famous “Gladiator” logo.
“Seeing my own logo on the Texas Tech uniform I put so much blood, sweat, and tears into is one of the most meaningful off-field accomplishments of my career,” Mahomes said in a news release last October.
In addition to the iconic logo, the jersey highlighted dark grey tackle twill, metallic film prints and Power Red accents.
Interestingly, during the team’s game against Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes, fans seemed unimpressed as the players took the field at Jones AT&T Stadium.
