KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Strong westerly winds will diminish some later this morning, though it will remain blustery this afternoon. Scattered clouds and sunshine will allow temperatures to reach the middle 50s. Wednesday will mark the beginning of a much colder temperature trend for the remainder of the week. Strong west winds of 20 mph occasionally gusting up to 40 mph, will allow colder air to begin creeping in. High temperatures on Wednesday will struggle to make it to 50 degrees. The chill sets in on Thursday with morning temperatures around freezing and afternoon temperatures only reaching the lower 40s. Northwest winds gusting up to 30 mph will keep wind chills in the 30s for much of Thursday afternoon. A hard freeze is likely Friday and Saturday morning with low temperatures dipping several degrees below freezing for greater than six hours. High temperatures on Friday and Saturday will climb into the upper 40s to near 50 degrees. Sunday will be the warmest day of the weekend with scattered clouds and sunshine and highs in the upper 50s.
