Will the Chiefs Have Better Christmas Luck Than Last Year?

The Chiefs are set to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day, at 1 p.m. ET. It is their fourth all-time Christmas Day matchup, and their second in as many years.

And they are today looking to improve on their holiday memories.

Last year’s matchup was also in the early window, against the Las Vegas Raiders. Antonio Pierce’s squad got out to a 17-7 lead at half, and despite losing the second half, held on to maintain a 20-14 victory. Patrick Mahomes threw for 235 yards with one touchdown, while also throwing an interception that Jack Jones would take 33 yards the other way. It wasn’t the only Raiders’ defensive touchdown, as Adam Butler forced a fumble on Isiah Pacheco that Bilal Nichols would scoop and score.

Mahomes’ Raiders counterpart, Aidan O’Connell, threw for just 62 yards, completing nine of his 21 passes. Zamir White had his way with the Chiefs offense that day though, running for 145 yards on 22 attempts.

The embarrassing loss came in the midst of a 2-4 post-bye week skid. It inspired the Chiefs’ squad though, as they ended the regular season on a two game winning streak that they took into the playoffs. The Chiefs wouldn’t lose again as they famously beat the San Francisco 49ers in overtime in the Super Bowl.
